The Region

The La Cava winery is located about one kilometer from Riparbella. With a wide view towards the sea, it nestles on a hill, Poggio di Nocola, on the southern slope of the Colline Pisane, on a ridge of tufa rock. The provincial capital, Pisa, is about 40 km to the northwest, and the regional capital, Florence, is about 50 km to the east.

Riparbella is surrounded by maquis, woods, vineyards and olive groves, and is famous for its good Tuscan cuisine. Excavations in the hamlet of Belora confirmed that Riparbella was already inhabited by the Etruscans. The medieval center of the village was built around the year 1000, and the village is mentioned in writing for the first time in 1125. Today, about 3,600 people live in Riparbella.

In the surrounding area there are various sights, and the surrounding towns, such as Volterra, Casale, Montescudaio and Cecina Mare offer much to discover.

In the region, however, not only wine and art lovers get their money’s worth – the area offers many opportunities for sporting excursions and activities. Especially the many trails for hikers and mountain bikers make the heart beat faster.

Especially worth seeing are the „Spiagge Bianche“ – the white beaches. Not only bathers get their money’s worth here, also surfers and kiters find an Eldorado for their sport.
